Wishing everyone a happy Labor Day weekend. Long considered the last gasp of summer, this is a chance to enjoy the outdoors, family and fun activities. After Labor Day, the next official holiday is Thanksgiving, so there is a long gap of time, filled with school, work and the normal activities of life. (I know, there is Halloween, which has become a big event, but it’s not “official.”)
I’m working on two new pet portrait projects, and hope to be finished either today or before the weekend is over. I also have the prints and originals for the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center show framed and ready to hang. I’ll have information at the show on how to order pet portraits. I also want to have a brief history of pet portraiture in history. The Frist Art Center recently had a show of “pet portraits.” The show largely centered on horses, but also several dogs, and not necessarily hunting dogs. The tradition goes back several centuries.
I hope you can make it to the opening reception Saturday, September 7 from 4-7 for the works, light refreshments, and socializing. If you can’t make it, now is the time to order a pet portrait online, or by contacting me. Just as a note, I’m getting so many robocalls and if it is not a number I know, I let the call go to voicemail. Please leave a voicemail and I’ll return your call promptly.
Enjoy the weekend, and thanks.
